The National Cherry Blossom in Washington, D.C. is the nation’s premiere cherry blossom festival, and we were honored to be selected as musical guests for 2014! For the occasion, we were joined by Mark H Rooney of D.C. taiko ensemble Kizuna.
We joined The Genki Spark, Odaiko New England, Mountain River Taiko, and Burlington Taiko for a celebration of spring and New England taiko. Now in its 4th year, the Brookline Cherry Blossom Festival is hosted by The Genki Spark and Brookline High School.
The Black Ships Festival in Newport, Rhode Island, commemorates the anniversary of Commodore Matthew C. Perry’s arrival in Japan and celebrates the sister city relationship between Newport and Shimoda in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture. This year was the 38th annual festival, and we performed on Cardines Field in downtown Newport alongside Odaiko New England.
